c.1860s 18k Solid Gold Pendant Set Converted to Wristlet

Beginning life as a pendant set watch and later (in 1871) converted to a wristlet, while the original chain is long gone, the original box remains and dates to 1862.  18k with all the hallmarks to indicate solid gold and the watchmaker (John Walker on Regent Street) in England.  My research has indicated that this is one of the very earliest wristlet conversions.

Although unnamed (which often happened in years gone by), this is a bar style movement with curved bridge was used for approximately 20 years and phased out by the early 1870s (by the time this watch was converted to a wristlet and engraved 1871).  Key wind and key set, this watch is absolutely spectacular and still keeps time.

John Walker, owner of Walker's Crystal Case Watches is listed as a maker of repute and was working from 1838 until he died in 1880.  The company is known for high end watches (18k with calendar complications) and clocks (with 8 day fusee movements).
